Well, I just had to share this story....
Ema... my sweet little Ema... sigh...
Ema was down on the computer for a while to do her "letters" and PBSKids stuff. She decided she was hungry so she came up and found me and had me pour her a bowl of cereal. I figured that while she was in eating breakfast I could take a break from cleaning and do some catching up on reading blogs and FB.
A little bit later she came up to me and said, "mom, I wasted your milk" I completely thought she meant that she wasn't finishing her cereal and had left it sitting on the table, so I told her she needed to drink it so she wasn't wasting it, unfortunately she was already running down the hall away from me as I said it. I didn't pay too much attention to her running off... I should have!!!
A bit later, I glanced at the clock and realized we had story time at the library in 30 min. I knew I needed to hurry and get her ready. I walked up and into the front room and see an EMPTY milk carton (gallon size) laying on the carpet in the middle of the room. As I scanned the room I saw a cereal bowl full of milk, and an interesting white substance piled around it on the floor, as well as a big container full of milk. It took me a good few minutes to put the whole scene together...
As best as I can figure here is her thought process...
her mini wheat cereal had soaked up all the milk, so she needed more milk, she thought she could do it on her own so she tried... then she thought... oh this is SO MUCH better with sugar, so she went and grabbed my sugar container out of the pantry and poured about a CUPS worth into her cereal bowl that was now to brim with milk... well she was having too much fun pouring milk and thought i bet it would be yummy if i poured all the rest of the milk into the sugar container that still held about 5 Cups of sugar!
As my eyes met the reality before me and comprehended what was going on it was all i could do to not cry and laugh hysterically. I knew I had to approach this delicately. I was seriously wanting to lose it, and trying everything in my might to not be too, as we say it here Dragon Ladyish, or too nonchalant about it... I now understood fully what she meant when she said she wasted my milk... my LAST gallon of milk! deep breath in through the nose out through the mouth...
I swept up the piles of sugar with my broom then soaked up the rest with a towel. once I felt it had dried sufficiently to vacuum I vacuumed it up as best as I could then called and told my hubby he HAD to get a rug doctor on his way home from work... Not exactly the plan of events for my day... but it sure left me with a good story to tell her when she gets older!
oh, and YES we did make it to story time at the library... we even saw her cousins LM and LB! What a day!!!

I am still amazed at how you just had a smile on your face when you came to the library and told me about it! You're an inspiration, that's for sure!
