Halloween 2008 Costumes

I really don't like buying halloween costumes. So I put it off as long as possible... and since it's the night before Halloween I'm roped into whatever is left. At least I don't end up with kids changing their minds all month! I did venture into new territory this year and made at least one costume and realized that the cost effectiveness is about equal after pattern, and fabric, and time are considered... Metta was the lucky one this year to have mommy make her costume...just don't look at it too closely! :$

Where is my Captain Jack?

Have you seen Grandmother's House? I have to get there quickly!

You like me! You really LIKE me!!!

My Crafting Skills at Work!

Marley gets to be in MTSU's homecoming parade next weekend. She is way excited...anyway... to go along with her uniform she could purchase some hair bow elastics. I really don't like spending money on things i can do myself. The prices weren't terrible. Just more than I wanted to spend. I know how much ribbon costs and the other tools to make them I already have around the house. So why not try and make them myself right? If it works I can make as many as I want for the amount it would take me to buy the small set. I think they turned out rather well! Don't you?

Good Grades = Reward Time = I scheduled what for when?

Well we've put it off as long as we possibly could. We're off to see High School Musical 3!!!
The girls have worked extra hard for the last 9 weeks, keeping up on homework, doing projects, reading tons and tons, and somewhat managing to keep their room clean...or at least when it counted. So as a reward we picked them up from school, and took them to see the movie, then out to dinner at Red Robin! The girls seemed to have a good time. The movie was good, and the food was good too!

Only after all of our fun did we realized Mike and I had been some MAJOR space-cadets with our schedules today!

Mike and I are usually very organized about what is going on and when. We ok...I was up early with the girls to get them to the bus stop then started cleaning. We had our Realtor come over and go over some comps for the house we are interested in and then talked about what we wanted our offer to entail etc. It all went really well...and got us even more excited about the whole offer stage...

Mike got busy doing one thing or the next after our Realtor left...one thing led to another to another and so forth...

I sat back on the couch and watched some TV with the girls...(they really like Caillou!) Then checked the time and decided if we were going to follow our day as planned, we needed to be heading out to get those things done before we were supposed to pick up the girls at 2:30. We raced out the door, for our list of errands and to get the girls etc. Get to the movie theater, and as we're waiting to be seated a bolt of lightning hit me as I realized Mike had just missed his eye appointment! It'd been scheduled for MONTHS!!! As we walk into the theater he calls them realizing he'd completely spaced it off and had to reschedule it...thank goodness there were no "missed appointment" charges! Now he gets to do it next week!

So then we sit and enjoy the movie...then go out to dinner. It wasn't until on the way to dinner I realized I had completely missed an appointment I scheduled too! Today was the day I had scheduled to have Kaleigh's Parent Teacher Conferences! Eek I totally spaced it off! I had my phone set to remind me. But had turned all sounds off because of being in the theater. I feel just awful about missing that. It not only was Kaleigh's homeroom teacher, but the Title I teacher Kaleigh works with. I NEVER miss PTCs! This is the one that we get the report card too!
I just want to cry because...well just because! :'(

I really don't know what happened today other than we got mixed up in doing fun stuff with the girls and forgot about all else. Mike and I are very much we say we'll be there and we're there...on time or early! I feel like such a failure :(

Oh well...I guess the old saying, "There's no use crying over spilled milk!" applies here!

Emergency Room and Child-like Faith

Looks like we have a trip to the emergency room tonight for some stitches...
I just happened to have a little butterfly bandage to hold it together for the ice pack.

Tonight as the girls were "winding down" for bed, and not being very successful at it, Metta had a mis-hap. The girls came rushing into the living room where I was sitting and talking with Mike, and were frantically telling me something was wrong with Metta. I looked over at Metta, and her mouth was all smeared in what looked like red candy. As I took a closer look I realized her lip was split and she was covered in blood (sorry for the groesome image). I imidiately looked up at Mike and said, she needs stitches.

Here's the story we were able to get out of her with her sisters' help..

She had been running around playing with my old cell phone.
"I was jumping on the mattress [not the bed] and I fell down and the phone fell on me on my face."

The mattress she was jumping on was the extra crib mattress that isn't used anymore. The phone she was playing with was my old Palm phone...big and heavy... it just happened to get her in the "right" spot to make her bite her lip and split it open. I don't know that I even saw her shed a tear through this whole ordeal. I think shock was her reaction.

Mike was very much...she'll be fine...I don't think she needs stitches! I looked at the gap again, and insisted that she did... I also brought up the idea having Mike give her a blessing. Metta looked right at Mike and said,
"If I have a blessing it will get better faster Daddy!" I looked up at him trying not to give him and "I told you so" look.

Mike texted a friend of ours from the ward to help him give her a blessing. He was here in a matter of minutes. Afterwords, Mike made a comment about her having that "child-like" faith and keeping it even when you're grown up.

I have never doubted the power of blessings. I LIVE by that faith. I can't imagine not having faith in that. It made me happy to see that same faith in Merryetta. I do hope and pray she continues to hold on to that faith.

Metta was a little nervous about going to the doctor, she kept asking if the doctor could just come to our house and fix it there. But she was brave and went out to the car holding daddy's hand.

So here I am at home...posting this...and my dear husband is with her in the emergency room even though he is the one who has to be up and at work by 6 am. I do appreciate his sacrifices for me and the girls :)

Here's to a calm Sunday night right???
